Beer-can chicken and Beer-can turkey are favorites with everyone that loves crispy, moist, and savory chicken.
No one knows the history of Beer Can turkey or who thought up this awesome cooking method, but, Beer Can turkey has been extremely popular across the south for many, many years.
The concept is simple enough. You place a whole turkey atop a half filled beer can, and place it on the grill, or in the oven. Steam is created as the beer inside the can heats up.
The steam rises, carrying with it the flavor from your beer, and saturating every inch of the Sittin Turkey from the inside out.
The steam keeps the inside of the turkey moist, while the surrounding heat creates a nice crispy texture on the outside of the turkey.
This is a slow cook process taking up to 1 hour cooking time at 275 degrees, per pound of turkey. If you have ever tasted beer can turkey, you know that the end result is a unique crispy, moist, and savory turkey that will have everyone coming back for more.
Being wider at the bottom than the top the Sittin Turkey, can easily hold an 18 pound turkey and the Sittin Chicken is stable enough to hold a four pound chicken. The Sittin Turkey is not a beer can, and you can re-use it time, and time again for years.

NOTE: Ceramic is fired to 2000° during the process. So, they can do just fine in the oven or the pit. The only problem would you would encounter would be by placing them directly on the heat source. That would heat them unevenly, make them stress and probably crack.
